The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), in collaboration with other government agencies and key private sector bodies, is leading the development of a national federated identity ecosystem called GovPass.
To govern the identity federation, the Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF) has been developed. It contains the tools, rules and accreditation criteria for the framework. The framework will provide the required structure and controls to deliver confidence to clients that all Accredited Providers have met their accreditation obligations and are trustworthy. These obligations cover protective security, privacy, accessibility, usability, risk management, fraud control, technical integration and service operations. The TDIF also sets the standard and defines the levels of assurance for identity proofing and credential strength.
We are playing a major role in this work and are responsible for providing the government:
- A digital identity and credential solution – myGovID (formerly AUSid – DTA has changed the Commonwealth digital identity provider’s name to myGovID to align with myGov, the Government authentication solution.
- An authorisation service - Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)
Development of digital identity credentials will improve the user experience and the security of individuals, businesses and other intermediaries dealing with the ATO and other government services.
