A Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique identifier for company directors. The DIN will require all directors to confirm their identity and will be a unique identifier for each person who consents to being a director.
The DIN will interface with government agencies and databases to allow regulators to map the relationships between individuals and entities, allowing traceability of a director’s relationships across companies over time.
This will assist government regulators investigate a director’s involvement in any repeated unlawful activity including illegal phoenix activity.
The DIN solution is part of the Modernisation of Business Registers (MBR) program. We are currently engaging with industry to support the design and implementation of the MBR platform and its external service interactions.
