For Tax Time 2020, tax preparation software will need to be updated to reflect the following payments being replaced by the JobSeeker Payment:
- Newstart Allowance
- Wife Pension
- Widow B Pension
- Bereavement Allowance
- Sickness Allowance (transitioning 20 September 2020).
The above payments transitioned to JobSeeker payment on 20 March 2020.
The Partner Allowance and Widow Allowance will transition in 2022 as recipients reach Age Pension age.
As a result of these changes, Centrelink payment summaries for 2019–20 may detail two types of payments for taxpayers (both old and new payments). Centrelink information will pre-fill according to the following table:
