ATO Corporate Plan
Members were given a high-level overview of the ATO’s Corporate Plan 2023-24 and the 8 key focus areas.
This Corporate Plan is the final chapter of the ATO’s Towards 2024 journey and the last under the current Commissioner.
Data Minimisation & Retention Update
The aim of the paper is to provide DSPs with a best practice approach to data retention.
Members were provided with a summary of the draft best practice guidance to date.
Once feedback has been received from focus groups the guidance paper will be published for broader feedback.
Security Standard for Add-on Marketplaces (SSAM) & DSP Ecosystem
Members were introduced the SSAM and how it operates alongside the Operational Security Framework.
The group explored whether the SSAM continues to be effective for DSPs and if there are other applications for the SSAM.
PayTo & Australian Payments Plus
Members were introduced to the organisation and were provided with an update on the New Payments Platform (NPP) and PayID.
The group discussed market direction and potential use cases for PayTo and NPP.
Artificial Intelligence: Tax and Payroll Implications
Members were provided with background on how DSPs currently use AI technology, its potential use within software and the constraints many DSPs face when looking to leverage AI.
The group discussed experiences with using AI models and how to navigate potential challenges.
Digital Identity Update
Representatives from the Department of Finance summarised the Digital ID legislation and the current consultation.
The group discussed the potential future use cases for Digital ID, it’s regulation, and the timeframes for each phase of implementation.
Peppol eInvoicing Update and Global Comparison
Members were presented with an update on Australian eInvoicing adoption and activities including how that compares to neighbouring Peppol countries, New Zealand and Singapore.
The group discussed challenges with European governance, opportunities for influence in the Asia-Pacific region and what is next.
Payday Super
Members were provided with a brief background on the Payday Super measure.
It is expected that the Treasury consultation papers will be issued soon. Working
groups are expected to be established in the coming months.
Next meeting dates
The next face-to-face SWG meeting will be held in Brisbane on 2 November 2023.
Participation is available to those Digital service providers listed as SWG members for the 2023 year.
